Continuous Powder Coating Line: When It Beats a Batch Oven

Continuous Powder Coating Line

A plant that started with a batch curing oven and then grew usually reaches the same question: add a second oven like the first, or move to a line where the conveyor never stops? The answer does not come from volume alone.

A continuous powder coating line is supplied to order and designed per project: a spray booth, a curing oven and a conveyor linking them at one speed. Delivered batch curing ovens in this family start from a 3000×3000×3000 mm cabin. The difference between the two is not size; it is how parts flow.

Variety favours batch, repetition favours continuous

A batch oven allows a cycle per batch: parts of different sizes, a different colour, a different heat curve where the material changes. A continuous line gives every part the same dwell because the speed is shared. When parts are similar and the colour repeats, the line uses every running hour; when parts vary and colours change often, the line stops at each change and loses what sets it apart.

Colour change is a production item, not a cleaning one

In a batch oven the colour changes between two batches. On a continuous line a colour change means leaving a gap on the conveyor between the last part of one colour and the first part of the next, and cleaning the spray booth before the new colour while the whole line waits. So the number of colour changes per shift is asked for before any question about capacity.

One rhythm for the whole line

On a continuous line the booth, the oven and the conveyor move at one speed, so the slowest stage sets the speed of the line and a stop at any stage stops the rest. Curing oven length is calculated from conveyor speed and the dwell the powder requires, as in any tunnel oven. The heat curve stays the same in both cases: the coating material sets it, not the oven type.

Frequently asked

Can an existing batch oven become part of a continuous line?

A batch oven is designed around a closing door and a cycle that ends, while a line needs two openings, a conveyor path and control tied to its speed. The move is usually a new line designed on your speed, assessed after inspecting what you already have.

Can one continuous line serve powder and liquid coatings?

Each material asks for its own heat curve, and the line gives one dwell at its speed. Dual use is studied for your two materials specifically before it is promised, as with a batch oven.

What information is needed to design the line?

Parts per hour, the largest hung part and its weight, the powder material and its heat curve data, the number of colour changes per shift, and the site area. Conveyor speed, oven length and booth arrangement are derived from those inputs.

Is the continuous line supplied complete or oven only?

It is supplied to order and designed per project, and the supply scope is set with the configuration before manufacture. Civil works and utility runs sit with the client under our terms, and can be carried out by agreement through our subcontractor network when the client asks.
