A wing does not fit a vehicle bay, and no number in an automotive catalogue describes one. Operators who buy a stock booth and then work out how to get the airframe inside usually discover the problem after the structure is standing.
An aircraft paint booth is therefore treated as a design project that starts from the part, not a purchase line that starts from a model. The difference is not vocabulary — it is which number gets fixed first.
Size is derived from the airframe
The published range in this family starts at cabins around 16,000 mm and extends to 24,000 mm long by 20,000 mm wide by 6000 mm high. Those are airframe dimensions rather than vehicle dimensions, and the final figure comes from your structure and how it is brought in.
| Item | Published range |
|---|---|
| Internal length | 16,000 – 24,000 mm |
| Internal width | up to 20,000 mm |
| Internal height | up to 6000 mm |
| Air capacity | up to 190,000 + 190,000 m³/h |
| Filtration | three-stage bag and high-efficiency filtration at ≥98% |
| Main door | up to 14,200×5,000 mm, powered |
Airflow follows chamber volume, not aircraft type
The figure that separates these chambers from an automotive booth is flow. A cabin at this scale needs air renewal reaching 190,000 m³/h per supply or extraction set to hold a stable spray environment across tens of square metres of surface.
Reading the flow figure alone is a mistake we see often. Read it against chamber volume: a high number in a small cabin is waste, and the same number in a 24 metre chamber may be at the limit.
Preparation and painting are two operations
Stripping, preparation and inspection precede painting, and each stage carries different air and extraction requirements. Combining them into one enclosure produces a chamber that does one of them badly — usually the preparation.
So the question of how many cells you need is answered from your process stages, not from a rule of thumb. Some facilities need two chambers; others manage with disciplined time separation in one.
Safety at volume differs from safety at bay scale
- Gas monitoring — included in large-structure builds because volume makes concentration uneven by distance alone
- Static discharge — a standalone line item in these chambers, not an accessory
- Three-stage filtration — bag and high-efficiency filtration at ≥98% where acceptance requires it
Ventilation and fire requirements for large chambers differ from those for a workshop booth, and they differ again between cities in the Kingdom. We meet the regulatory requirements applicable to each project, and the certificates and approvals required are supplied on request.
Acceptance is measured by repeatability
These sectors run to strict accreditation and documentation standards. Equipment is judged on its ability to give the same result again and to record that it did. A catalogue maximum does not answer that question; a control panel that logs cycle stages does.
Frequently asked questions
Have you delivered chambers for airframes?
Our published delivery range covers cabins up to 24,000 mm long, 20,000 mm wide and 6000 mm high, which are airframe dimensions rather than vehicle dimensions. The full range is set out on the aerospace, marine and rail industry page.
How many chambers does a project need?
It depends on stage separation. Stripping, preparation and inspection need different extraction from spraying, and combining them shortchanges one of the two. We fix the number after reviewing your process.
Which dimension should I send first?
The dimensions of the largest structure you will bring in, plus the technician’s working space around it, and then how it enters the hall. Those two fix the internal size, and the rest of the configuration is built on it.
Is three-stage filtration mandatory at this size?
Not by size alone. It is driven by your coating material and the acceptance requirements of your facility. Bag and high-efficiency filtration sits within the delivered range and is decided alongside the rest of the configuration.

What to do next
Send the airframe dimensions, how it is brought in, and your process stages, and we will come back with a one- or two-chamber concept built on your structure. Request a quote or talk to a specialist. The full published range is on the paint booth family page.
