Metro Car Finishing Enclosure: Single Car or Coupled Set

Metro Car Finishing Enclosure

A metro car is not measured the way a vehicle is. The figure that enters the design is not car length alone, but whether the car enters singly or as part of a coupled set.

That distinction drives the whole project cost. A metro car finishing enclosure sized for one car is one decision; sized for a set it is another, with a different footprint and a different air capacity.

Where a metro car sits in the published range

Structure chambers in this class start at 16,000 mm and extend to 24,000 mm long. A single car sits toward the lower end of that range; a coupled set pushes the size toward its upper end.

Splitting the set is not free

Taking cars in singly lowers the size required and raises the cycle count. Taking them coupled raises size and capacity and lowers the cycle count. The choice is operational: how many cars are coated per year, and how long a set can stay out of service.

So that figure is fixed before internal size, not after it.

Frequently asked questions

Is height a constraint for metro vehicles?

Published internal height runs from 2650 to 6000 mm and accommodates rail vehicles. Length is usually the governing figure, not height.

What governs the door selection?

The entry method. The published main door range starts at 3000×2600 mm and reaches 14,200×5,000 mm powered, and the choice follows part size and how it comes in.

How many chambers does a project this size need?

It depends on stage separation. Preparation, stripping and inspection have different extraction requirements from spraying, and the count is defined after the process is reviewed.
