A vehicle leaves the factory at a known size, then has something fitted on top of it: a crane, a tank, a closed body, a platform that rises. The size that enters the chamber is the second one, not the first.
A special purpose vehicle booth is therefore measured on the vehicle after upfit rather than on the bare chassis — which is exactly where enquiry figures go wrong, because they are usually copied from the manufacturer’s data sheet instead of measured in the workshop.
Upfitting raises height before it raises length
Most equipment is mounted above the chassis rather than behind it. Length may stay close to the original while height jumps a metre or more over the cab roof, and a folded boom or a raised platform can add more again if it does not stow flat.
The delivered internal height range in this family runs from 2650 to 6000 mm, which carries that comfortably — but the figure is fixed from a real measurement of the vehicle as upfitted, not from the chassis specification.
Three numbers change after upfit
| Item | Delivered range | What governs it after upfit |
|---|---|---|
| Chamber length | 3,000 – 24,000 mm | Whatever projects behind the chassis |
| Chamber height | 2650 – 6000 mm | Highest point of the equipment, not the cab |
| Main door | up to 14,200×5,000 mm powered on large builds | Widest and tallest section passing through |
| Air capacity and heat | up to 190,000 m³/h and 600,000 kcal/h | Chamber volume produced by the two sizes above |
An upfitted surface is not one surface
An upfitted vehicle presents mixed surfaces: the smooth cab panel, an equipment frame that may carry a different industrial coating, and booms and joints with corners and recesses. Spraying reaches those corners at angles a flat flank never demands, which lengthens the cycle and increases the working clearance the chamber has to allow around the vehicle.
Frequently asked questions
Which size should be sent, the chassis or the finished vehicle?
The finished vehicle, in the state it enters the chamber. If the boom folds, send both the stowed and raised heights, because the difference between them can change the chamber and the door.
Is there a stock model at this size?
Anything beyond the automotive envelope is built to order rather than sold as a stock model. The INTECH internal chamber is 6900×4000×2650 mm, so once the upfit passes that height the vehicle leaves the stock range.
When does the door become powered?
By size. On large builds the main door reaches 14,200×5,000 mm and cannot be handled manually in a repeated daily cycle, so electric actuation becomes a specification line rather than an option.
Is the equipment coated fitted or removed?
The two decisions differ in cost and in size. Coating it fitted saves a removal step and needs a larger chamber; coating it separately needs a smaller chamber and a support arrangement for the part. Send what you do today and the size is built on that.

Send the length, width and height of the largest upfitted vehicle you take in — as it enters, not as the chassis is specified — and we will come back with a chamber and door built on it. Talk to a specialist. The published range sits on the trucks and RV sector page.
